Reason is simple: Setting up a connection to a Ubigia backend is currently complex and far from developer-friendly.

However, until the research phase is finished and we know which aspects are imporant and which aren't we'll maintain the layered approach. This will degrade performance somewhat but allow us to far easier inject/replace/experiment.
