Advice on creating a Health Record Editor?

Hi,

I'm trying to do something similar to this - at least, that's what I think I need to do!

I want to create some referrals for cancer patients, where the referral happens before investigations and diagnosis. The most obvious way to do this seems to be to create another encounter.

I think what I need to do is:

• create a class that implements HealthRecordEditor
• sometimes return true from shouldRun()
• in process(), create an Encounter in the health record.

So, how do I do the last part? I've tried:

       HealthRecord hr = person.record;
       hr.encounterStart(time, HealthRecord.EncounterType.WELLNESS);
       HealthRecord.Encounter enc = hr.encounters.get(0);
       enc.codes.add(new HealthRecord.Code("SNOMED-CT", "404684003", "Clinical finding (finding)")); // Random values
       hr.encounterEnd(time, HealthRecord.EncounterType.WELLNESS);

This does get executed, and causes some exceptions along the way, that I'll try to work out once I've got the basic thing working, but the first issue is that this encounter doesn't appear in the output. So,

• Can I add an encounter here?
• Am I adding it to the right place?
• Do I need to do more to it, to make it a viable encounter?

It's a long time since I've done Java, so it's possible there are mistakes in that!

OK, the issue is the 0: I'm picking the first encounter, as I assumed for some reason I was looking at that one - of course, I need the last encounter in the HealthRecord's list. My dummy encounters are now appearing in the output.

I'm sure I'll be back shortly, confused about something else...
