The extension doesn't work for short periods of time now and then. [I'm not sure if this is a bug] #419

Describe the issue/bug:
The extension doesn't work at times [keeps loading; the Brainly Tools icon is yellow] though internet connectivity is pretty normal/fast, and the extension works as expected a couple of minutes later. [A few other moderators faced the same issue too]

To Reproduce:
Not sure of how it can be reproduced.

[Tried re-installing the extension, using different browsers/apps, refreshing the page, logging in and out. These steps didn't work]

[PS: I'm not 100% sure if this is a bug, around 6 moderators faced the issue including myself (PC and mobile), so I thought of reporting it]

Here the extension works 100%, but at Console, this error appears:

It seems to be a Brainly error....

This error is happening when the new Function tries to return an Object from the Brainly's script.

A suggestion for this code to work: Try to use the RegExp /(?<=fos\.Router\.setData\().+scheme:"http"}/gim instead

@HydroXBR , No it's probably an extension error (index come from extension, but I agree there is also a Brainly error but it doesn't matter with the extension error)

He may be just did a syntax error.

Seems like one case where the issue happens is when a user with extension access makes a new login, previously the extension took a good few minutes to load in, but it's taking a lot more time to load in (hasn't started working since I made a new login). [On brainly.in, not sure about other domains]

Tried logging in on a new browser (Brave), tried with different Brainly accounts, tried on incognito mode, the extension isn't loading in completely all cases. [Only the theme color loads in]

There are a few other moderators who haven't made any new logins, the extension keeps loading at times for them as well. [Edge, Yandex & Kiwi Users]

Hello everyone,

@seahindeniz is aware about the issue. Brainly did some changes on the website and the extension can't work correctly.

@seahindeniz will release a patch when he will be free to work on this.

Hey, not sure if this is a common fix, but following these steps solved the issue for some moderators who were unable to use the extension on PC:

  • Click on the three dots at the top right corner. [Menu option]
  • Click on 'Settings'.
  • Search for 'Cache'.
  • Click on 'Clear browsing data'.
  • Select 'Hosted app data', you may unselect the rest.
  • Click on 'Clear data'.
