Goals and Objectives

Objective: Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of reference documentation for Polykey that serves as the definitive source of information on all aspects of Polykey’s functionality, targeting both new users and advanced practitioners.

Specific Goals:

  • Accuracy and Detail: Ensure all technical details are meticulously documented, providing reliable, thorough, and up-to-date descriptions of functionalities.
  • Ease of Use: Structure the documentation to be intuitively navigable, helping users efficiently locate the information they require.
  • Support for Advanced Users: Offer in-depth content that caters to advanced users for complex configurations and troubleshooting scenarios.
    • Troubleshooting scenarios….

Current Documentation Evaluation

  • Content Review: Conduct a thorough evaluation of all existing reference documentation to identify sections that are outdated, incomplete, or lacking clarity.
  • User Consultation: Solicit feedback from power users and developers on the utility of the current documentation and areas for enhancement.
  • Compliance Check: Ensure that the documentation complies with technical standards and best practices for software documentation.

Potential Topics for Reference Documentation

Primary Focus Areas:

  • Command-Line Interface (CLI) Commands: Provide detailed documentation for all CLI commands, options, and their behaviors, including examples and common use cases.
  • Polykey Client Library: Elaborate on the functionalities available through the Polykey Client Library, detailing API endpoints, parameters, request/response formats, and error handling.
  • JRPC API Usage: (Pending further discussion) Document the JRPC API, outlining its integration points, protocol specifics, and practical applications.

Tracking and Collaboration

  • Maintain an active list of sub-tickets for each section of the documentation.
