While working on a dataset created or expanded with non-MISP data sources it is practical to easily identify which entities are already stored in MISP, and which ones aren't.

One way to do this would be to add a distinct color-bookmark to each entity

This could be implemented differently. See http://maltego.blogspot.com/2019/02/fun-with-flags.html?m=1

Per Paterva's feedback it's not possible yet as Overlay

The overlay-feature is currently only supported through property mapping. In other words, only by changing the entity specification to interpret one of the properties for an overlay can this be done. Along with the updated server released planned for later this year, the transform developer will be able to set overlays without the entity specification requiring such a mapping, and this will enable what you are looking for, and it will also be achievable then through the machines.
