Abstract

WEB3DEV is a global community of web3 developers learning and building together. By now, we are the largest and most engaged web3 developers community in LATAM.

There are more than 5,600 developers in our Discord server: https://bit.ly/w3b3d3v - Our community is organized in pods, each pod for a different web3 technology. Each pod has a leader, which helps that pod to evolve, promoting growth to the ecosystem and the whole web3dev community.

We have leaders for Ethereum, Cardano, NEAR, Algorand, Solana, Filecoin, Helium, and others. We incentivize those pods, creating bounties and paying individual contributors when they create new technical content and deliver value to the community

WEB3DEV is Community, Education, and Building

Community: Engaged community of software developers to create exclusive and high-quality content about web3 technologies.

Education: An education platform where everybody effectively learns about blockchain technologies in our bootcamps.

Building: We match our talented members with different ecosystems demandsProposal Information

Description

There are thousands of great developers and data scientists in Latin America eager to learn new technologies like Neo, but English-only content is still a limitation. We are building a developers community for web3 technologies in Latin America. We engage people not only to translate English content but also produce original content for specific blockchain technologies.

Our objective is to bring thousands of web2 developers to the web3 world. Brazil is the biggest economy in Latin America and has thousands of high talent developers. When more Brazilian developers have the tools to build innovative solutions, Neo can be used to solve different problems in Brazil such as agro-business green certification, forest devastation, environmental issues, better wealth distribution and hunger.

We have limited resources to invest on a broad creation of content for specific technologies, so this partnership could accelerate the adoption of Neo in Latin American crypto startups and projects.

We published more than 900 technical articles that attract an audience of more than 3,000 page views per day. The community has more than 90 individual content creators that produced hundreds of videos, articles, and translations. The community also has market specialists, designers and copywriters that work constantly to make the content accessible to a broader audience of developers.

Motivation

Neo is a great ecosystem with a lot of innovative solutions. We want to get developers aware of this ecosystem and help them to start building on it.

Goals

We expect to have 20,000 developers in our community by the end of 2023. We expect to reach at least 3,000 of them with specific Neo blockchain ecosystem content, some of them being able to work and deliver value on real projects in the Chainlink Neo.

Deliverables & Roadmap

6 months of ongoing content creation:

  • 30 videos ~10-20 min duration - at least 5 videos per month
  • 30 text articles ~1000-2000 words - at least 5 articles per month
  • Advertising content for our audience in the most effective way, including posts on our Twitter, Instagram, Discord and LinkedIn

Videos and text are technical content, including tutorials and architecture presentations. Any code presented will be available on github as open source and free to use. This deliverables include pre-production, recording, editing, copywriting and advertising the created content in our channels media (website, mailing, Discord server, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram)

Deliverables Verifiability

All content will be public available in our platforms and we send a monthly report with the content production progress together with impact metrics.

Budget Plan

  1. Project Management (upfront): $5,000
  2. Video Production $1,750 / month. Total: $10,500 - impact: 2,000 devs
  3. Articles Production $1,250 / month. Total: $7,500 - impact: 1,500 devs
  4. Content Advertising / Social Media Engagement free - impact: 6,000 devs

Total: US$23,000

@danicuki that's great! Thanks for taking the time to do it.

Do you mind coming to our Discord server to further investigate this specific problem?

This should not prevent your proposal to move forward. 🤞 👍

@danicuki ok, I've seen you're already in the Discord server. I messaged you in the #grantshares-support.

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi @danicuki - Thanks for the proposal. We actually have quite a large Brazilian contingent in the Neo community.

Paging @igormcoelho and @vncoelho to this thread, who do a lot of work within the Brazilian university system and have created courses for Neo in Portuguese. I believe they may be well positioned to evaluate the quality of your content in Portuguese and have their finger on the pulse in regards to education in Latin America.

@danicuki

Hi @deanragnarok in fact we've met some Brazilians building on NEO. Yet there is a lot of room to grow this vibrant community. WEB3EV have at the same time the skills and right audience to target and enable NEO growth around here

It was nice to meet you @danicuki.

Could you create a list (with easy links) to the content that was created by our team to these other projects NEAR, Ledger, 1inch, Filecoin, Algorand, DFinity, Solana, Octopus and Helium?
I checked the website but mostly saw content for Ethereum and Solidity.

Regarding NEO, it would be good to have a better understanding of the proposed summary and title of the contents that will be created.
For example, an idea of the title of the 30 videos (maybe 10 will be enough for now). The same for the text articles.
Based on that we will be more sure about which kind of content will be created and if that we what we believe that is missing for the community.

@danicuki any answers about the comment above? ☝️

Moreover, can you please edit the proposal in relation to getting better tables and overall clearer content? The content seems a bit odd. For example, check this out:

Sure!
You can access all articles using specific tags:
NEAR
Algorand
Filecoin

Also the youtube playlists:
Chainlink
Algorand
Ledger

The content topics are selected together with the ecosystem team. We usually don't select the topics during the grant application because this is a very dynamic process. Usually our approach is: after the grant is approved, creators start to propose topics, and someone from the NEO team would be responsible to approve each video / article. We do this in a weekly basis.

Hey @danicuki

Sorry for the silence. Our workload is pretty high at the moment.

I truly believe this proposal is valuable, and I see that you and the team are dedicated to producing top-level developer content for multiple chains, and would like to jump on the Neo ecosystem. Which is awesome!

However, the community recently approved a proposal from MelkDAO to help to onboard people (even if their focus is non-devs), and I'd like to see how this evolves first -- before this moves on. Given the proximity of MelkDAO and WEB3DEV, this would also "test" whether the community traction makes sense for GrantShares DAO and Neo as a whole.

Nevertheless, I would like to hear the opinion of other DAO members as well.
@shargon @lllwvlvwlll @steven1227 @kiki18z @igormcoelho @roman-khimov @deanragnarok @DylanNNT @hacfox, can you provide some thoughts on what do you think about this proposal?

@danicuki

Hi @gsmachado thanks for the insights. I understand that you have limited resources and don't want to "put so many eggs in the same nest". At the same time, you say that our proposal is great and valuable for devs in the NEO ecosystem. Maybe summing the amount funds requested from both MelkDAO and WEB3DEV proposals it is too much for you now, but we could eventually adapt our proposal, reduce the scope, yet still start working on content for devs. This way you would have the chance to observe not only one but two of our facets. Let me know what you think.

Yeah, that could be an option. But, I would wait a bit for the first outcomes of MelkDAO before trying to push WEB3DEV.

Nevertheless, as I said, I would like to hear about other GrantShares DAO members. Let's wait for their opinion about this proposal.
